First dates can be pretty tricky, with most people not liking them too much. It’s easy to see why; they’re awkward, the conversation mightn’t be great, and much more. If it’s going well, however, there’s always the nagging question at the back of everyone’s mind: Are we going to have sex later?
Sex on the first date has been somewhat of a divisive issue for quite a significant amount of time. For everyone who says that there’s nothing wrong it, there are a few more that say it shouldn’t be done. A lot of this could be because it’s something that’s not typically done.
On the other hand, however, if you’re both willing and excited, then why not? Even when both people are interested in each other, and there’s clearly some physical chemistry, deciding whether or not to have sex on a first date can still be somewhat tricky.
Naturally, it’s not something that many of us might have done before. A lot of this could be related to the fact that few of us have had sex when we weren’t in a relationship with someone. However, this doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be a good time.
Instead, it could offer a few benefits for many of us, with there being a few reasons why you might want to consider sex on the first date.
It Could Lead To Amazing Relationships
When there’s chemistry, there’s chemistry. While a lot of this will initially be physical, it can then become sexual quite easy. Alongside this is the fact that great chemistry can often be quite difficult to ignore. Though this can usually mean one night stands or casual hookups, it isn’t always the case.
Instead, there’s been a variety of studies that have looked at how many people who had sex on the first date got into a relationship with that person. As some of these studies have noted, there’s quite a large number of people who engaged in a relationship with someone after having sex on the first date.
This could mean that there’s a much larger chance that you might wind up with the other person than you might have anticipated. As a result, you could find yourself in a meaningful relationship with them from the get-go. It might also mean that you could save some time in getting straight to the point while still having fun.
It Shouldn’t Turn Your Partner Off
Quite a significant number of women believe that having sex on the first date might make their partner think less of them. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case, as the majority of men have said that this wouldn’t negatively affect their opinion of a woman.
While there are still some men who might, these seem to be in the minority. Coupled with this is the fact that anybody who would judge you for sleeping with them mightn’t be worth it in the first place.
You’ll also need to keep in mind that it takes two to tango. As such, if they’re trying to judge you, then they’re somewhat hypocritical. Thankfully, the number of people who think this is dwindling more and more.
It Can Just Be Some Fun
Many of us might think that having sex on the first date has to be complicated. However, it shouldn’t be. Just because you’ve done the deed doesn’t have to mean that you’re automatically in a relationship. Instead, it could simply be a chance to explore each other’s bodies and have some fun.
It should be a chance to become intimate with someone new while also feeling amazing (as long as they know what they’re doing). This could mean that you’ll be able to have an enjoyable time without having to commit to a relationship if that’s not something that you’re ready to do yet.
Sometimes, sex can just be sex and doesn’t have to mean anything beyond that. While having it on the first date isn’t the most traditional approach to take, it’s still something that could offer quite a fund time.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to when you should first have sex with someone. While some people might be more than comfortable doing so close to the relationship’s start, there are others who would prefer to wait until they’re more committed. As such, there’s no ‘wrong’ way to go about it.
Naturally, you’ll need to make sure that you practice safe sex and that you and your partner are willing participants. If you’re considering whether or not you should have sex on the first date, then the above could be great reasons to do so.
However, the decision about whether or not to have sex with someone is a personal one. If you’re not feeling it, then don’t go for it. On the other hand, if you and your partner are ready and willing, then there shouldn’t be anything stopping you from doing so.
