Valentines Day – a man’s point of view
Valentines Day typically isn’t something that many men look forward to. Instead, it’s something that can sometimes between met with a groan as most men try to figure out what presents to get. Alongside this, the evening itself needs to be planned.
Naturally, a lot of men wouldn’t exactly be excited by the thought. A lot of this could be because it can often be difficult to get Valentine’s Day perfect. While there are the obvious things of presents and a romantic meal, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to go to too much effort.
Though finding presents and evenings outs can often be easy when you first start dating, it can get more difficult after a while. This is especially true for us men, as we’re quite clueless when picking presents and planning a romantic evening. If you’re on a budget, then this could be much more.
However, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other options. You could consider having a romantic evening in, with there being a variety of things that any man can do for his partner.
Though you’ll still need to make sure everything is right, there are a few things that any man can do for Valentine’s Day without spending a lot of time and money on. With many, you wouldn’t even have to leave the house, as you can still show your partner a nice Valentine’s Day at home.
Have A Sparkling Picnic
When many people think of a romantic night in, they usually picture a nice meal, a bottle of wine, and a movie. However, you can take this up a notch by throwing your partner a candlelight picnic, which should be much more comfortable than it sounds. Remember though, we are in February, so if there is a total fire ban, stick to battery-powered fairy lights.
As long as you have soft lighting and a blanket to sit on, you should have most of the things needed to set up. Other than this, you’ll just need to sort out the food and wine, as well as some entertainment, naturally. Some nice music, while you’re eating, can work wonders for the atmosphere.
If you’re the type who loves to cook, then it’s highly recommended that you cook her favourite dish. Alternatively, you could cook whatever meal she most enjoys from you. If you don’t like cooking, or just aren’t a good chef, you still have some other options available.
Naturally, you can get a takeaway from her favourite restaurant. While not all of these will deliver or offer takeaway, you should still be able to find a large number of them that do. Just remember to stay away from your regular delivery places.
The main reason for this is that you’re trying to make it romantic, so the takeaway around the corner might not be up to scratch. While you’ll need to spend a certain amount of time making sure that you have everything ready, this could pay off dividends.
Fairylights and candles can add to the atmosphere, as this can help make it as romantic as possible.
Have A Spa Night
All of us want to relax when we get home from work, and this is just as true on Valentine’s Day. However, this could be the perfect reason to pamper your partner at home by throwing them a spa night. Despite being quite easy to do, you’ll need to make sure everything is done right.
One of the best ways that you can do so is by having a warm, candle-lit bath waiting for her when she gets home. You could even take it a step further by throwing some rose petals into the tub just before she gets to the house – you could also substitute these with her favourite flowers.
Lastly, you could put on a playlist with all of her favourite songs on it to help her relax further. While she’s bathing, you can then finish cooking a romantic meal and have it ready and waiting for her by the time she gets dried off.
If you’re feeling especially romantic, you could mix this with the fireside picnic mentioned above. Add in her favourite movies, and you’ve got yourself the perfect Valentine’s night in with your partner. Depending on the food and wine you get, this could also be relatively inexpensive if budget matters to you.
A lot of us men tend to be quite clueless when planning an evening for Valentine’s Day. While we can often come up with great ideas for the first few years, these can often begin to dwindle. However, each of the above could come well-recommended.
Though you’ll have to have a certain amount of foresight and forward-planning – you’ll need to get home before your partner and set things up, after all – it can be well worth the effort. With a certain amount of effort, you should be able to plan a great Valentine’s night for you and your partner.
